How & Where do I install the Hg5?
In a wet-ring vacuum pump system, the Hg5® is installed between the existing filter of the vacuum pump and the piping from the operatories. In a dry pump vacuum system, the Hg5® is installed between the existing collection tank and the piping from the operatories. Click here for typical Hg5® Assembly Instructions & Installation diagrams, which will be included with your separator.
In the U.S., the separators are supplied with the following inlet & outlet connections: Hg5............ 1 ½" Fernco couplings Hg5 MINI... 3/4" Fernco couplings Hg5HV....... 3" PVC Pipe terminations
EZ INstall Kits include the necessary fittings, hoses, clamps & simple instructions to adapt to the above listed separator terminations & easily connect the separator to your vacuum system.
How often will I need to replace my container?
The term "amalgam separator" is somewhat misleading. All amalgam separators are solids collectors. They collect anything that is heavy enough to settle out of the waste stream (i.e. prophy paste, air abrasion, etc.). The container on the Hg5® is transparent, allowing you to see when it is time to be replaced. Many practices with 4-5 chairs will replace the container in 6 to 9 months while others will not need to do so before one year. The busier the practice, the more frequently the container will need to be replaced. The cleanliness of the existing vacuum piping can also effect the frequency.
How do I replace the Hg5® Container?
Please refer to Hg5® Container Replacement Procedure. For recycling, simply place the depleted container into the recycle box and hand it your UPS driver (in the United States only). The depleted container will be delivered directly to the recycler. All Hg5® replacement containers include the box w/ sealing tape, a ziploc bag, & simple instructions.
